Lodestone On the Green

what can be traded?

– anything that participants believe to have a value and can be used in a transaction with other people.

It is somewhere between a live art installation, a bring-and-buy sale, an art & craft fair, a festival, a FreeCycle event and a local producers' market.
Participants will negotiate the space they need and be able to display, exchange, share and/or sell whatever they truly value –

– This might be chic bric-a-brac, artisan food, cool cosmetics, deft drawings, poignant poetry, home-sewn vintage clothes, home-sown plants, studio spaces to let, web pages to share, musical groups to form, collaborations to develop…

  • Make and take from it as much as your imagination allows
  • Be part of an experiment and a unique, cutting-edge event
  • Use the opportunities for networking and collaboration
  • Benefit from strong local promotion for your creative activity
  • Market-test new opportunities for transactions

The first event (March Hare) was an amazing success, with a whole range of transactions from give-aways to swaps, from promises to partnerships, from cash of a few pence to hundreds of pounds. Everyone who came along seemed to really enjoy it.

The second event (May Uprising), was better planned and publicised, and had a quite different atmosphere. It was competing with glorious weather, Allendale Show and the Cub Final. However, once again, those who were there seemed to enjoy it, and have said they would like to be part of another one.

the third event (On the Green), made the best of the sunshine by going al fresco. There was a great party atmosphere with happy smiley faces and people enjoing the asset of a village green

Watch out for details of the next event. This is an evolving project, so each event will be built on the experience of the previous one. Better still, take part in a discussion to get the kind of event that you'd like to see, by joining the Facebook Group.
